I have talked about today a few times, here or on facebook, but today was the run for Braden. Braden is a little boy that lives in my subdivision who has stage IV relapsing neuroblasoma. Sadly there is no known cure for this cancer but Braden is a fighter and I believe in miracles. And, if you don't, meet this little boy and I am pretty sure you will. Not only is Braden fighting cancer, but his mom Deliece is too. She has had one surgery, has another this Wednesday and will be starting chemo soon. And through all of this they are such positive and strong people. Here is a link to their caring bridge page should you want to follow there, or on facebook or on twitter you can find links to all three or email me. The password for the CB page is cheerios.
We all walked the 1 mile, we were about middle of the pack if you look at pics that gives you an idea of how many people were there. This race all came together in about three months time and had about 2000 people at it. And, it was all done by donation. Pretty impressive for a no budget no time event. Before the race started around 23K was raised. Mom, Dad, Keith, me and the three peeps all walked, and then afterward Keith decided he had not exercised since fall so he went ahead and ran it. He did pretty good, considering...only a minute behind our neighbor Michelle, but Keith sure was red when he finished and I wondered if he was gonna make it. He is golfing now before our last soccer game of the weekend so I guess you can say he pulled through just fine.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures, thoughts and HOPE. Believe! Sophia Wharton ( one of Braden's Race director)
