Well, it seems that I am often behind, but from the flurry of posts you can see I am nearly caught up as I prepare for Davis 6th birthday tomorrow! We have had a whirlwind of activities since my parents got here on Friday. Friday Jeni and I spent all day dipped in sugar and chocolate making things for the party on Saturday. Then Mom/Dad got here and we worked on stuff for the party all evening. On Saturday Keith and I went to the ALS walk with our friends the Carts in support of Scott and then home to take Davis to another birthday party at Pump It Up and then home for his own spooky party! Keith's parents also came on Saturday for the party. Crazy day, but it was good and the party a success.
Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch, Monday more activities and today Davis had school and Carson had parent/teacher conferences. Carson is out of school for the week and Davis is out on Thursday and Friday. Tomorrow is Davis birthday and after a very painful experience with bringing treats to school Keith is now going to work and not take the day off and I will bring treats to send home with the kids. In September I was told that I could bring packaged nut free bakery cookies in by the school nurse. So, I ordered them and paid for them...and then she called and left a message on Friday night saying I could not bring them. I totally understand and respect the nut free policy, but seriously?! This process is so antiquated. And, the nurse told me that "she was just too busy" to tell me sooner. I had spoken with her in September and all was fine, and apparently she was busy until the afternoon of Friday October 16th? This still has me irritated. That and the fact that the "food list" they sent home is out of date and contains items that do have nuts on it...
But, I will play the game....I keep telling myself this is trivial and to just get over it, it is either this or move or try private school, right?! If only this was not the first instance of me feeling that everyone is not on their game it would be different. Maybe I expect too much...or have been out of work too long...I don't know. From February until school started they lost Davis birth certificate not once, not twice, but three times. That situation is resolved, but once in person and twice in the mail and then the fourth time in person worked...again, argh! I guess I will just focus on the fact that he has a great teacher, he loves school and he is learning. All positives!
Carson's conferences went great--he is exactly where he should be and doing well. So good to hear! They say he is always full of smiles, is so funny and has lots to say. I have to agree!
Well, I am going to go get my "banned" cookies so I can send them home with the kids. Sad that Keith is now going to skip going after all this fiasco. Tomorrow will be a fun day celebrating my big 6 year old!
