Yesterday I spent the day getting a few things ready for Davis' "Winter" party on Thursday. It is a "Winter" party because we can't say Christmas...and to me that is just NUTS. At least let us have a holiday party...but even that has been ruled out now. Kind of sad, makes me want to put the kids in a Christian school...but I guess it is what it is. Anyway, here is a picture of my "food approved list" snowmen. Let's hope they pass inspection.
I also made reindeer food for the kids (below) and hope that doesn't offend any parents. When did we become so sensitive? Sure we need to be respectful of differences, but when did it become wrong to share what you celebrated and believed in? Ironically I was at PTO meeting where they sang "A Wonderful Story", you know the one about baby Jesus...hmm...but yet we can only celebrate winter?
Oh and if you want me to rant on about inconsistencies, we are a "peanut free" school, but most all of the teacher luncheons that are brought in are laden with peanuts. We are told by the school nurse that oils can get on the table and can cause a reaction, but the teachers have food in the library with peanuts and that is OK? I need to get off my soapbox. I understand we need to be cautious with nuts...seems reasonable, we are all reasonable people. But, if we are gonna have a rule, shouldn't it at least be consistent?
OK...how did party time go from here is what we are doing to my latest rant?! I should say too, I do love his teacher and so many of the people at Morse, so I am not dogging the school at all--they are great, just don't understand rules that don't make any sense. And, yes, I do over analyze things.
