Back to reality...

and I have to say I am not a fan. Tomorrow marks a week since we got home and I think we have been going non-stop since we got here. Davis has enjoyed seeing some friends he missed and so has Carson.

Davis is attending a ready set go class, basically a 1st grade readiness program. He is reading chapter books now...and I need some help finding some that hold his interest. I hate for him to get bored with reading already when he is so good at it. But really, those early readers are not good. Some for girls are good, but none I have found for boys are good. Suggestions welcome. He also already knows all of his 1st grade sight words. Pretty cool too, huh? He is pretty smart...now if only his handwriting were improving...eek...not so good.

Both of the boys enjoyed going to Backyard Bible Camp at our neighbor Kim's house. It was from 6:30-8:30 in the evenings so it made for late nights for the boys when they had to get up for Davis to go to school the next day but I guess it is good practice for school and sports since soccer and school will be starting up here soon.

School starts August 18th for Davis. Can't believe it. I am still not putting him on the bus. I have pondered it a lot. Part of me wants to have him ride it home so that I don't have to get Harper up from her nap....but the other part of me just can't do it. Maybe next year I will be more brave......

And now for the biggest news of our week--Davis is at his first sleepover as we speak. It is at Joshy's house, but I am not liking it. We have not ever spent a night where one parent was not with our kids unless I was in the hospital having one of said kids....eek. I really like all my eggs in the nest. I just hope he behaves himself and has fun....I am sure I will stay up waiting for "the call" saying he wants to come home because he misses me....is that wrong? I miss him.

The final baseball game of 2010

Well, we got home late Sunday but it was just in time for Monday's final game. It was also in time for backyard bible camp, so I missed baseball and took Carson to camp--which was a win win since it also allowed me a much needed trip to the grocery store. Keith did pick up a few things to get us through the morning but somehow I don't think he has his finger on the pulse of what the kids eat every day like I do....like four gallons of milk a week for us, not just one....

Does she count as a carry-on item?

I am pretty sure if the airline could charge a fee for her they will...opps, I hope I didn't give them any ideas.
This was hilarious. This and when she clapped her hands when the pilot said we would be landing in 20 minutes were definitely the trip highlights. Davis wanting to puke and Harper puking were not.

Time to say good-bye

For you.
I should have had Dad move out of the sun....but the boys were so squirly that any movement might have caused more chaos...if that is possible....

We had a wonderful time at Monga and Bopa's. I was not ready to leave...but the boys missed their Dad. Sure, I missed him too...but really he works so much that it is nice to have someone else above the age of 6 around during the day. It was a great time...hope to do it again....if they will have us. I think right now I owe them a scale, a vacuum, a half-dozen pool floaties and probably need to have their new carpet cleaned...or at least their couch.

The last swim....

Harper and I took one last swim at Monga's on Saturday night. She thinks she can swim...and that is dangerous. I fear she might be our dare devil....

Arts in the Park

Part of the riverfront is full of people to watch the air show and the hydro plane boat races and the other part is there for the food and art booths. This morning we went to the art show. The kids got these bracelets and did quite a performance with them. They also had ice cream, frozen lemonade, kettle corn and a snow cone...for lunch I guess? Not sure what that meal was that they just had....I guess one catered to by Monga and Jeni.

Thursday Night....

and only three sleeps left. Bopa wanted to take us to his favorite place for dinner (Eatza Pizza) and as we waited out front for Bopa I took a few pictures. I failed to take any at dinner since it was so busy--kind of like a cleaner and quieter Chuck E Cheese with better food.

Millions of peaches take 2?

Had to go back and add this extra cute pic Bopa took.

Down the road we go....

and down the row she goes.

Harper picking her first peaches.

What do I do with it?

Does it taste good? (Yes, I am letting my child pick and eat unwashed fruit....I am a bad mother.)

She is not sure if she likes it.

She does not like it. Tries to get me to take it.

Now she is rethinking it. Maybe she will keep it after all

Davis, not sure if he is picking good ones or not. The good ones are up kind of high for him to reach.

Jeni and Monga pulling the wagon...hmm...did this happen last year too?

Carson, eating more than he is putting in the bucket. This is not like him....he is the picky one, remember?

He likes it.

He could barely keep up since he was busy eating.

Pretty proud of the peaches...now to get them home and make something with them.

Davis went off running down the row as we were ready to head back.

Last summer, in late July I think, we got peaches in Kansas. This year we get them in Washington. But this was Harper's first time doing it....maybe next year she will be more interested?

Kids night at Applebees?

...you would think that our kids had never been to Applebee's before. They were so excited to go there and then when we got there they got to pick toys out of a box and get their face painted. Not to mention the kid shakes that came after their meal. I think we will try kids night again when we get back home...hopefully we will not be disappointed since this one was such a hit.

Above Harper is strong arming me for some diet Pepsi....that girl has a problem...not sure where she got it....

Davis got a rocket the first time.

Carson got a rocket the first time too. But here he is back for round two. He is holding his head up and still with that one hand I guess.

Surprise, its a spider.

At the park, down by the river...

There is a very nice park down by the river at called Howard Amon Park. The park, for obvious reasons, has a few fish in the sandbox and other play areas. Harper really had a strong affection for this Salmon.

She gave him kisses.

The giant Sturgeon was a little less friendly.

And the play equipment was railroad themed and there was a rip line.

Harper wanted to see what was underneath the play equipment.

Jeni was being mauled on the slide.

Davis, on the rip line.

Hanging out with Bopa on the bench by the river.

Monga and Davis down by the river.

Monga giving a rock skipping lesson.

That red speck on the lawn, that is Harper...

It was quite a slope and Bopa thought she could make it down.

I should've brought swim suits! I didn't know she would like the river so much.

I left the river with a few pockets full of rocks. Between beach rocks and river rocks I am a little worried about my luggage weight being over.

Carson just decided to strip down and get in. I wish we were staying longer so we could go down and swim more. It is boat race weekend (google water follies if you wanna know more) but there is a hydroplane boat race each year that creates chaos and insanity on the river.

Jeni and Harper rides the boat.
Davis climbs the rope.
